Think about it. Your ancestors didn’t sit in office chairs, hunched over laptops for eight hours straight. They were out hunting, gathering, moving because, well, they had to. No movement meant no food. No food meant… well, you get the idea. Fast forward to now: we’ve got food delivery apps, standing desks (which, let’s be real, still don’t fix the sitting problem), and entire days spent in one position. Our bodies weren’t built for this.

Ever notice how stiff you feel after sitting too long? That’s your body low-key screaming at you to move. And the funny thing? When you actually do it—whether it’s stretching, walking, or chasing your dog down the street because they suddenly forgot their own name—you feel better.

Nature: The Reset Button You’re Ignoring

Okay, so movement is great and all, but let’s talk about where you do it. If your answer is “the same four walls I stare at daily,” maybe it’s time to rethink things. Step outside. No, seriously. Even if it’s just your backyard, a city park, or that little strip of grass outside your office building—just go.

Science says (and honestly, just common sense confirms) that being in nature reduces stress, improves mood, and helps you focus. Ever sat under a tree, stared at the sky, and felt weirdly calm? That’s your nervous system chilling out, finally getting the memo that everything’s okay. You don’t have to go full-on camping mode. Even five minutes outside can do wonders.

History Knew What Was Up

Let’s backtrack a little. This whole “spend time outside, move your body” thing isn’t new. The Greeks had the Olympics, the Japanese literally have a practice called shinrin-yoku (forest bathing—sounds fancy, but it’s really just being in the woods), and even medieval folks got more fresh air than we do. Somewhere along the way, we swapped fresh air for fluorescent lighting, and let’s be honest, that trade-off has not been great for our collective sanity.

So What’s the Fix?

No, I’m not saying quit your job and become a full-time hiker (unless that’s your dream, then, by all means, go for it). But you can make small shifts:

• Walk around when you’re on a call. No one will know.
• Step outside for five minutes instead of scrolling Twitter.
• Take your lunch break somewhere that’s not your desk.

Bottom Line: Move More, Stress Less

Your brain and body are on the same team, but you have to meet them halfway. Move when you feel sluggish. Get outside when you’re overwhelmed. Shake things up—literally. Because the more you move, breathe, and exist in nature, the more human you feel. And honestly? That’s kind of the whole point.

The official name of the holiday is Independence Day, but most Americans call it simply by date – Fourth of July or July Fourth.

Why do we Celebrate Independence Day on the 4th of July?

According to official American historiography, on July 4, 1776, the United States Declaration of Independence was signed from the United Kingdom. It was a joint decision of 13 British colonies that were on the eastern coast of the North American continent and had fought with the sovereign for a long time. The fact is that enterprising colonists wanted to print their own money, but they did not want to pay taxes to the British crown with gold and silver.

As they say, word for word … a war began, which soon outgrew the private financial issue and turned into a war of independence from the mother country.

And on July 2, 1776, the Second Continental Congress, the representative organ of the rebellious colonies, approved the Declaration of Independence, a document in which the territories fighting for independence were first named the United States.

However, the final signing of the historic document took place two days later – on July 4. Two days were required for the coordination and elimination of various inaccuracies. July 4, 1776, this Declaration was signed by the leaders of the Continental Congress, among which were the founding fathers and future US presidents Thomas Jefferson and John Adams.

Interesting Facts

Jefferson and Adams, who in turn presided in the United States, died on the same day – July 4, 1826, on the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the historic declaration. Fifth US President James Monroe also died on July 4, but five years later – in 1831. And the thirtieth American president Calvin Kullidge was born on July 4, and it was in 1872.

How to celebrate the US Independence Day

The US Independence Day is an official holiday and a paid day off. The holiday is celebrated very widely – both at the official level and at home. As in many other countries – for Americans, Independence Day is an occasion to eat well and how to drink, preferably in nature. The wet foot, dry foot policy is the name given to a consequence of the 1995 revision of the Cuban Adjustment Act of 1966 that essentially says that anyone who fled Cuba and entered the United States would be allowed to pursue residency a year later. After talks with the Cuban government, the Clinton administration came to an agreement with Cuba that it would stop admitting people intercepted in U.S. waters. Since then, in what has become known as the “Wet foot, Dry foot” policy, a Cuban caught on the waters between the two nations (with “wet feet”) would summarily be sent home or to a third country. One who makes it to shore (“dry feet”) gets a chance to remain in the United States, and later would qualify for expedited “legal permanent resident” status and eventually U.S. citizenship. In January 2017, the Obama administration announced the immediate end of the policy.

President Obama announced that he was scrapping the long-standing policy by which Cuban migrants arriving at U.S. borders were granted automatic access to the country, and eventual permanent-resident status. The measure, which had immediate effect, was in keeping with a dramatic series of executive actions that Obama has taken to solidify as many of his policies as possible, or to at least hinder their reversal by Donald Trump. The end of open-door entry to the United States for Cubans, called “wet foot, dry foot,” is intended both as a buttress to Obama’s historic rapprochement with Cuba—which Trump has recently threatened to tear up—and as a brake on the surge of Cubans flooding into the United States since a restoration of diplomatic relations was announced, in December, 2014.
