It doesn’t require fancy equipment, a gym membership, or perfect technique to get started. Whether you’re jogging around the block or training for a marathon, running offers a simple, powerful way to improve both your body and mind.

Here’s why it works so well — and how to make it part of your life without burning out.

What Makes Running So Effective?

Running is a full-body, weight-bearing cardio workout. It strengthens your legs, improves cardiovascular health, and helps regulate weight — all while being incredibly accessible.

You can run almost anywhere. Sidewalks, parks, trails, treadmills — all you need is a decent pair of shoes.

It scales with you. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced athlete, you can go at your own pace and still get results.

Health Benefits of Running

Boosts heart health: Regular running strengthens your heart, lowers blood pressure, and improves circulation.

Burns calories efficiently: Few exercises are as effective for fat loss.

Builds mental resilience: Running teaches focus, consistency, and discipline.

Improves mood: It releases endorphins — the famous “runner’s high.”

Strengthens bones and joints: Contrary to the myth, moderate running can actually reduce the risk of osteoarthritis over time.

Supports better sleep: Especially if done earlier in the day.

Is Running for Everyone?

Mostly, yes — but it’s not one-size-fits-all. Some people love the rhythm and simplicity. Others may struggle with joint pain or find it boring.

Tips for safer, more enjoyable running:

Start slow: Walk-run intervals are a great entry point.

Get proper shoes: Go to a running store if you can — it matters.

Listen to your body: Soreness is normal. Pain is a red flag.

Run on softer surfaces: Grass, trails, or tracks are easier on the joints than concrete.

How to Add Into Your Routine

You don’t have to train for a race to be a runner. Try this approach:

Begin with 2–3 short runs per week (15–30 minutes)

Alternate with walking if needed

Track your runs: Use an app or a notebook — it helps motivation

Warm up and cool down: Prevents injuries and eases recovery

And most importantly: be patient. The first few weeks are the hardest — then it starts to feel natural.

Common Myths

“It ruins your knees”: Actually, running in moderation can strengthen your joints. Bad form and wrong shoes are usually to blame.

“You have to go fast”: Pace doesn’t matter — consistency does.

“It’s only for fit people”: Everyone starts somewhere. You don’t have to be fast or thin to be a runner.

Final Thought

Running is more than just exercise — it’s a mental reset, a form of meditation, and a way to reconnect with your body. It’s tough at first, but incredibly rewarding if you stick with it.

So if you’ve ever thought, “Maybe I’ll try running,” take that first step. You don’t have to be fast — you just have to move forward.

It’s simple, easy to remember, and feels achievable. But is there truth behind the number? Or is it just another health myth?

As someone who’s tried it consistently, and also dug into the science, here’s what I found.

Where Did the 10,000-Step Rule Come From?

Interestingly, the idea didn’t start with a medical study. It came from a Japanese marketing campaign in the 1960s. A company selling pedometers called them “manpo-kei,” which means “10,000-step meter.” The number stuck, probably because it sounds good and feels like a solid goal.

Still, just because it started as marketing doesn’t mean it’s useless.

What Does the Science Say?

Studies show that increasing your daily steps does improve overall health. People who walk more have better heart health, lower blood pressure, and a reduced risk of chronic diseases.

As for weight loss, it depends on several things: how fast you walk, what you eat, and your overall activity level.

Walking 10,000 steps burns about 300 to 500 calories, depending on your weight and pace. That’s helpful, but not magical. One fast-food meal can easily wipe out those calories. So walking alone won’t cancel out a poor diet.

Walking vs. Other Exercises

Compared to running or high-intensity workouts, walking is less intense. It burns fewer calories per minute. But it’s also easier to stick with. You can do it anywhere, any time. And because it’s low-impact, it’s gentler on your joints.

That makes it a great starting point if you’re just getting active again or looking for something sustainable. It might not melt fat overnight, but over time, it helps.

Real Benefits Beyond Weight Loss

Walking does more than burn calories. It improves your mood, reduces stress, and boosts energy. It’s also linked to better sleep. All of that supports a healthier lifestyle, which indirectly supports weight loss.

Consistency is key. Walking every day builds a habit. It gets you moving, and it often encourages other healthy choices—like drinking more water, eating better, or getting outside more often.

Is 10,000 the Magic Number?

Not exactly. Some research suggests that even 7,000 to 8,000 steps a day can deliver strong health benefits. If you’re new to walking, that’s a great place to start. The important thing is to move more than you currently do.

If weight loss is your main goal, combine walking with mindful eating and maybe some strength training. That creates a stronger foundation for lasting results.

Final Thoughts

Walking 10,000 steps a day won’t transform your body overnight, but it’s a powerful tool. It’s easy, free, and sustainable. And when paired with smart eating and consistency, it absolutely supports weight loss.

So yes, the 10,000-step rule can help—but it works best as part of a bigger picture. The most important step? Start walking.

And don’t get me wrong—learning is powerful. Expanding your mind is essential. But here’s the thing no one wants to admit: you can’t think your way into a better version of yourself. At some point, you have to have movement.

There’s a reason why after sitting with a book for hours, you still feel stuck, or why all that knowledge doesn’t quite translate into action. The mind wasn’t designed to exist in isolation from the body. We’re built for motion, for physical engagement with the world. And yet, we convince ourselves that sitting in one place and “understanding” something is the same as becoming something. It’s not.

The Connection Between Movement and Thought

If you’ve ever gone for a run and felt a sudden burst of clarity, or walked around the block and solved a problem that had been frustrating you for days, you already know what I’m talking about. Motion unlocks something in us. Studies have shown that exercise improves cognitive function, reduces stress, and even increases neuroplasticity—literally reshaping the brain to help us adapt and grow. It’s no coincidence that some of the greatest thinkers in history, from Nietzsche to Steve Jobs, swore by long walks to process their ideas.

But it’s more than just science. It’s a fundamental truth of being human: we are meant to move. Our ancestors didn’t sit still, contemplating life from the safety of a chair. They explored, built, ran, climbed. They learned by doing. Somewhere along the way, we’ve convinced ourselves that we can skip that part—that we can just consume information and magically transform. But without action, knowledge is just theory.

Strength Is More Than Physical

We tend to separate physical and mental strength, but they feed into each other in ways we don’t always see. Ever notice how pushing yourself physically—whether it’s through lifting weights, yoga, dancing, or even just stretching—changes how you feel mentally? Strength in the body translates into resilience in the mind. Pushing through discomfort, staying disciplined, challenging limits—these are all things we train in movement that carry over into every other aspect of life.

Think about it. You don’t gain confidence by thinking about being confident. You gain confidence by proving to yourself, over and over again, that you can do hard things. That you can move forward even when it’s uncomfortable. That you can trust yourself.

The Body as a Tool for Growth

It’s not about fitness, not in the way we usually think about it. It’s about engagement—about using your body as a tool for expanding your mind. Try learning a new skill that involves movement, and you’ll see what I mean. Try martial arts, dancing, rock climbing, swimming—anything that forces you to step outside your comfort zone and experience learning in a physical way.

Movement is humbling. It reminds you that progress isn’t instant. That failure is part of the process. That growth happens when you keep showing up, even when it’s messy. And that’s something no book, no podcast, no passive intake of information will ever fully teach you.

Move First, Think Later

So if you’re feeling stuck, if you’ve been searching for answers in words but still feel like something is missing, try this: move first. Go for a walk. Stretch. Dance. Lift something heavy. Engage with the world physically, and watch how your mind follows.

Because at the end of the day, real self-improvement isn’t just about what you know. It’s about what you do.

But does Rolfing’s treatment actually work?

Let’s delve into the subject to uncover the truth behind this alternative therapy.

Understanding Rolfing Therapy

Rolfing is a hands-on manipulation technique developed by Dr. Ida Rolf in the 20th century. It focuses on manipulating the body’s myofascial system, aiming to realign and balance the body by manipulating the connective tissues (fascia) surrounding muscles. The therapy typically consists of a series of ten sessions, each targeting different areas of the body.

The Theory Behind Rolfing

Proponents of Rolfing believe that imbalances in the body’s structure can lead to chronic pain and restricted movement. By manipulating the fascia, Rolfing aims to release tension, restore alignment, and improve overall posture. Advocates suggest that this realignment can alleviate pain, improve flexibility, and enhance physical performance.

Research and Evidence

While anecdotal evidence and personal testimonials abound, scientific research on Rolfing’s effectiveness is limited. Some studies have shown promising results, indicating improvements in posture, pain reduction, and enhanced well-being. However, the scientific community calls for more rigorous, large-scale studies to validate these findings and establish Rolfing as a mainstream therapeutic approach.

Personal Testimonials

Many individuals who have undergone Rolfing treatment report positive outcomes. They often describe experiencing reduced pain, increased mobility, and a greater sense of body awareness and alignment. However, it’s essential to recognize that personal experiences can vary, and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another.

Is Rolfing Effective?

In conclusion, the question of whether Rolfing’s treatment works remains somewhat open-ended. While anecdotal evidence and personal testimonials is supporting its effectiveness, scientific research is still evolving. As with many alternative therapies, individual results may vary, and it’s essential to approach Rolfing with an open mind and realistic expectations.

In summary, while Rolfing therapy holds promise as a holistic approach to addressing chronic pain and enhancing well-being, more research is needed to establish its efficacy definitively. For those considering Rolfing, consulting with a qualified practitioner and understanding the potential benefits and limitations can help make an informed decision about its suitability for their needs.

Many of these occur from poor mechanics or overuse, especially when your lower back is involved. Other common areas for golf injuries include your elbow, wrist, hand, and shoulder. Avoiding such injuries requires proper mechanics, but rolfing is there when these injuries are unavoidable.

Tips to Help You Avoid Golf Injuries

There are many ways to avoid golf injuries while you’re on the course. Before you start your next round, you should take some time to look at these tips so you won’t be off the course getting rolfing treatments.

Adjust Your Swing
One of the most common golf injuries that result in the need for a rolfing session occurs when you don’t correctly execute your golf swing. Remember to engage your whole body when executing your swing. Repeatedly executing a swing incorrectly will place significant stress on the wrong parts of your body.

When it comes to your swing, you always want to use proper posture. Stand with your feet shoulder-length apart, slightly rotated outwards. Keep your knees slightly bent and your spine relatively straight. Bend slightly forward and swing from your hips.

Never hunch over the ball, or this may result in neck and back strain. You also don’t want to swing the club too hard or too fast, or you’ll place stress on your joints.

Your goal is to maintain a nice, smooth swing on the ball. Doing so requires all of your muscle groups to work together. These are things that expert golfers have learned are more important than speed.

Always Warm Up First
Before you head out onto the course to play a round of golf, make sure you warm up correctly, so you don’t need rolfing. Take a brisk, 10-minute walk, stretch your body, and take a few swings with your club. It only takes a few minutes to avoid months of recovery from an injury.

Start Your Game Slowly
It doesn’t matter how much you practice your swing. If your body isn’t conditioned correctly, you’re causing more harm than good. Instead of rushing things, take time to work up to your desired activity level. Make sure you always focus on proper form.

Build up Your Endurance
It’s essential to engage in regular aerobic activity when not on the golf course. You should get anywhere from 75 – 150 minutes of aerobic activity each week. Some of the best exercises for this include walking, jogging, bicycling, and swimming.

Strengthen Your Muscles
Hitting a long drive has nothing to do with having bulging muscles. However, the stronger your muscles are, the faster you’ll be able to swing your club. You’ll also be less likely to need rolfing because you won’t get injured so easily. This is why it’s recommended that you engage in strength training exercises throughout the year.

Protect Your Feet
While you want to wear shoes that have short cleats, you also want to make sure they’re comfortable since you’ll be on your feet for a lengthy amount of time. Choosing the wrong shoes (those with long cleats) will dig into the sod and hold your feet so that your knees experience more strain.

You also want to make sure to keep your feet inside the golf cart while riding in one. Some golfers have broken their ankles because they’ve become entangled in the golf cart’s moving parts.

Play Smart
It doesn’t matter if you’re a new golfer or someone who has had a lifelong passion. You need to protect yourself from golf injuries. Unfortunately, they may still occur. When they do, contact us at Williams Rolfing in Tampa, FL. We’ll help you get back on the course right away.

A large amount of information leads to memory impairment and a decrease in intelligence. How to improve brain function without drugs?

How to help the brain reboot? How to quickly get involved in a full-fledged work, when necessary, and rest so that it is beneficial? To learn how to competently interact with the brain, learn ten effective ways.

Perhaps something is not suitable for a lifestyle, but it is not necessary to use all the recommendations. Find the opportunity to master at least half.

Many have heard about how beneficial afternoon nap. There really is a deep meaning to this. A short daytime sleep during work is a great opportunity to reboot a bit, restore physical strength, and cheer yourself up.

Many may be outraged and think that they simply do not have 1-2 hours of time in the afternoon to sleep, but in fact, so much is not necessary. Just 10-20 minutes of sleep after lunch is enough to be filled with new strength and energy.

If you allocate time for an afternoon nap at about the same time, then soon it will become a habit, you will learn to fall asleep very quickly. You will wake up first by timer, after 15 or 20 minutes. But this will also soon become a habit for the body.

The brain will learn to quickly go to sleep, recharge and restore full activity in just 20 minutes. Such a short reboot will only benefit the whole body.

Creative activity
Of course, when a person has a huge amount of affairs and everyday troubles, then there is simply no time to think about creativity and find time for it.

But, you want to change everything and again feel the taste for life? Then make it a rule to engage in creativity that will appeal to you, shortly before bedtime.

Any creative activity allows a person to relax, get away from daytime worries and switch to rest.

Do not know how to draw, but want? Color the paintings by numbers. Drawing has been proven to improve brain function. Or lay out pictures with diamond mosaics. Talents are not needed here, but the process and the result are fun.

Proper multitasking
On the one hand, multitasking seems to be an excellent solution to many problems. For example, when a woman is preparing dinner, she can simultaneously tell her son how to solve a difficult task. But, this does not always bring positive results.

So in the case of combining the preparation of dinner and helping the student with the lessons, it may happen that my mother absent-mindedly starts to do two things at once. The dish will turn out under-salted, and the student will not really receive the proper attention and will not understand the lesson.

It is important to understand that multitasking is not always good. It’s better to create to-do lists and complete each of them separately in a convenient sequence. So you will notice that you could do much more during the day, and most importantly better.

And when, then, is it worth resorting to combining several cases at once? For example, when there is a monotonous “tedious” job, for example, cleaning or ironing. It’s time to brighten up your own joyless listening to your favorite music or audiobook.

Active life
For a good and healthy work, the brain, like the entire human body, needs activity. Running, swimming in the pool, walking, cycling, playing badminton, ice skating – all this is extremely important.

Such physical activity improves brain activity, makes it possible to switch from heavy mental activity and serves as an elixir after a hard day. Even during the working day, allow yourself to take short breaks, go outside, breathe fresh air, squat, look at the sky. And after work, take time at least for a regular walk.

Pick up a pen and notebook
Of course, modern gadgets greatly facilitate human life. But, do not bring everything to the point of absurdity and forget how to correctly spell the words of the native language. As numerous studies by scientists show, a person should write something by hand more often, this improves the brain and encourages him to work effectively.

You can keep a diary and describe the events of the day, write letters to yourself or memoirs, rewrite verses or recipes. Soon you will notice that the handwriting has changed for the better, and memory has become less common.

Think about nutrition
No wonder there is a saying that a person is what he eats. Food affects not only appearance, but also brain activity. Think about whether your diet has enough foods rich in healthy nutrients, as well as vitamins of different groups.

In this article, we have already touched on the topic of nutrition and healthy foods for memory. Remember that the brain needs fats. The best friends of the brain are fish oil and lecithin. Vegetable oils are useful, especially linseed and olive.

Foreign language and word games
One of the great ways to recharge your brain is to learn a foreign language. Working with an unfamiliar language, the brain has to open all its hidden resources. You can noticeably improve brain function, even if you just learn individual words.

To do this, you do not need to go to expensive courses, because now you can easily turn to resources with free materials for learning languages. You can take a free trial lesson to evaluate your abilities and interest. Go ahead, boldly study and learn something new for yourself!

Any games with words help not only to develop brain activity, but also improve the mood of the whole family. What kind of games are these? For example, those whose rules suggest inventing new words from existing letters or from one large complex word.

Finding apps with games for your phone is easy. They are free and available for all smartphones. There are also paper options. Such verbal amusements help a person to increase brain function at times.

Meditation and optimistic attitude
At this point, do not snort and neglect. After all, correctly done meditation allows a person to relieve tension, improve the state of mind and body. Study practices, get to know the research on the topic and you will surely find a lot of unique information for yourself that will teach you how to relax.

Any positive thinking allows the human brain to work efficiently. Any optimistic attitude makes it easy to come up with new ideas, discoveries and opportunities. Optimists are always easier to improve and move on.

Probably some of the tips will seem familiar already, but it’s worth considering how much of this list you put into your daily life? It may be worthwhile to establish new good habits that will make you feel confident, rested, and happy.

After all, they collected incredible benefits for the body. Due to the high content of potassium, apricots support the work of the heart system, protecting it against diseases, strengthening vessels. And phosphorus and magnesium activate brain processes, improve memory. In addition, apricots are good for vision. To make your child less likely to go to ophthalmologists, it is enough for him to eat 3-4 fruits per day.

By the way, regular consumption of apricot is a reliable prevention of the development of cancer problems. But with all the rich set of useful qualities, you need to know about the dangers that lurk in these fruits.

The wrong choice of apricots reduces the benefit at times. Yes, buying fruits with thin skin, dryish inside, you will not get the vitamin charge you dreamed of. Because the fruits were picked, most likely, green, and they ripened on the road. In order for apricot to benefit the body, it is better to choose large, not overripe, fruits with juicy pulp.

Apricots can not eat diabetics because of the high sugar content and glucose.

This fruit can cause aggravation in those who have problems with the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, nutritionists advise to eat only ripe and large apricots (they are sweeter) and several fruits a day.

Diarrhea can also be provoked by apricot, if after eating fruit, and then drink water. So try not to drink at least half an hour.

The development of putrefactive processes is also possible after eating apricots for food. Therefore, it is better not to eat apricots immediately after the main meal. It is advisable to eat an hour after eating.

When bradycardia, doctors generally recommend not using apricots in any form.

If you are “sitting” on a diet, it is better to eat less apricots. A large number of consumption of these fruits in food can cause obesity.

The pressure rises during the narrowing of the arterioles, as this makes the heart work more difficult. The consequences of hypertension are varied: from heart failure to stroke and heart attack.

If you do not know about the presence of hypertension, the likelihood of a heart attack or stroke increases by 60%.

Increased blood pressure – “silent killer”
Hypertension is almost asymptomatic, so in most cases it goes unnoticed. Identify the problem already when there are serious health problems.

According to statistics, more than 31% of the population suffers from high blood pressure. About 16 million people are not even aware of the presence of hypertension.

There is a certain genetic predisposition to hypertension. Recent scientific studies have shown that some genes undergo mutations, and this affects the regulatory effect of the kidneys (and their excretion of salts).

But blood pressure rises not only for this reason. It is very important to adhere to proper nutrition and lead a healthy and mobile lifestyle.

5 causes of high blood pressure
Hypertension has its own characteristics in each case. However, there are common risk factors contributing to high blood pressure. Most of these factors are related to our daily habits.

1. Overweight

Recent studies have shown that people who are overweight or obese tend to increase their resistance to blood vessels, so their heart has to work with great effort.

Losing excess weight will lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.

2. Unhealthy lifestyle

Excessive alcohol consumption, smoking, excess salt in the diet and lack of physical activity contribute to high blood pressure.

The sedentary lifestyle, which is so deeply rooted in modern society, also has a negative effect on the body. It increases the incidence of hypertension, both among adults and among young people.

If you want to protect yourself from this condition, try to train every day. For example, you can start with half-hour walks, and then gradually add cardio exercises to training.

Make sure your diet is balanced and as healthy as possible. Prefer fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and low fat foods.

Clinical studies have shown that such strong emotions as anger, irritation and anxiety are also directly related to an increase in blood pressure. So, watch your emotional state.

3. Clinical causes

High blood pressure can be associated with chronic kidney disease, thyroid problems, diabetes, and sleep apnea.

Some studies have noted that 10% of people suffer from so-called secondary hypertension. That is, in their case, high blood pressure is caused by another clinical condition.

4. Medicines

Some medications (for example, hormonal contraceptives or anti-asthma drugs) may also contribute to an increase in blood pressure.

Some nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antidepressants and analgesics can also be triggers.

This is because such drugs change the balance of sodium and fluids that exist in the human body. Imbalance, in turn, leads to a narrowing of blood vessels and hypertension.

5. Age

People over 40 years old are more prone to hypertension. With age, the blood vessels weaken and lose their elasticity. Arteries also change, they become less flexible, which causes the heart to work with double force.

Just as any other muscle behaves when the load increases, the heart increases in size to cope with the extra work.

But the larger the heart becomes, the more blood and oxygen it needs. In doing so, he will not always succeed in maintaining blood circulation at an appropriate level.

That is why it is so important now to pay attention to your lifestyle and make some adjustments to it if you are worried about high blood pressure.

Try not to eat convenience foods and fast food, limit salt intake. Reduce alcohol consumption and try to smoke less every day.

It is possible to control blood pressure if you change your habits, take the necessary medications and follow the doctor’s instructions.

Do not forget that hypertension may not cause you discomfort, but this condition is very serious, and you need to treat it accordingly.

You can prepare a brew for it or choose capsules. What is green coffee? These are actually coffee beans that have not been heat-treated. Thanks to the fact that they are natural, they have tremendous values and properties.

Green coffee – properties (also slimming)
It is said that green coffee reduces appetite. In addition, it is supposed to accelerate the burning of fat. All thanks to the caffeine contained in it. In addition, caffeine adds energy. Chlorogenic acid is also important. Green coffee also contributes to lowering blood pressure. Thanks to it, we can reduce cholesterol in a simple way. Women who struggle with cellulite should also reach for it.

The contraindication to green coffee is pregnancy, heart disease, hypertension, as well as diabetes and below 16 years of age. It is worth noting that there is no magical way to speed up weight loss. Rational nutrition and physical activity are necessary to reduce body weight. There are also no studies that confirm the theory of slimming green coffee effects. However, it is worth using it as a supplement that can only help fight unnecessary pounds. The most important are healthy eating habits, which should be made gradually.

Green coffee – how to drink?
If you want to use all the properties of this coffee, drink two cups a day. It will be best if we apply it in the morning. We will then obtain the effect of arousal, and in addition, we will accelerate the metabolism. The preparation of the infusion is child’s play. All you need to do is pour about 3 teaspoons of the mixture into the cup and pour it over with hot water. Ideally, if the water will have a temperature of 194°F. After flooding, wait about 5 minutes. If the taste of green coffee does not appeal to you, add a tablespoon of honey to it.

Already drinking one cup of green coffee before breakfast allows you to lose 3 lb of body weight within 2 weeks. Much better results can be achieved by using a healthy, balanced diet. Green coffee speeds up the transformation of sugar and fat, which was delivered with food. In addition, thanks to her eaten meals will not be so calorific. Green coffee is also a great replacement for a classic black drink. It is also said that its drinking contributes to an increase in concentration. Helps to focus and achieve better results at work or in learning. However, this should not be the only measure that helps us fight unnecessary pounds. Above all, we should introduce regular physical effort into our plan of the day. It will make sure that even if you lose a lot of weight, your skin will not lose its firmness. We can get such coffee in specialized stores. It is not worth trusting other places, because the quality of the product may leave much to be desired. It is worth trying green coffee, however, it is not allowed to replace it with meals.

The 3 worst types of Procollagen is a protein that makes up 30% of all proteins in the human body. It is present in all tissues and organs, mainly in bones, skin, cartilage, ligaments, tendons or cornea of the eye. Its basic function in the body is to maintain the elasticity of the connective tissue, bind the cells and increase the strength of the connective tissue to stretch.

Collagen is formed in the body from endogenous amino acids obtained from food. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) takes part in the synthesis process. We managed to isolate 29 types of collagen, which are characterized by a different function, presence and structure. The most common form of collagen in the human body is collagen I (85-90%) found in the skin and connective tissue of the bones. After the age of 25, the processes of collagen synthesis disappear, which may worsen the condition of the skin and general health. Why is collagen such an important component of our body and what functions does it have?

The importance of collagen in the body

Collagen forms a connective tissue of bones, joints and cartilage, ligaments and tendons. He is responsible for the proper functioning of the motor organs. Collagen deficiency can cause difficult movement and weakness of joints and muscles, as well as back pain.

Collagen is responsible for the smoothness, elasticity and firmness of the skin and for the proper condition and appearance of hair and nails. Deficiency of this component leads to the formation of wrinkles, cellulite, skin damage on the heels and skin changes such as acne, eczema and discoloration. Insufficient level of collagen leads to excessive hair loss, dandruff and nail fragility.

Collagen also has the effect of reducing the development of microorganisms and toxins in the body. The correct level of it allows you to maintain immunity and reduce susceptibility to infection.

What foods can collagen be found in?

The largest amounts of collagen in food are found in products such as:

• Gelatin

Gelatin almost 90% consists of collagen. It is a natural mixture of peptides and proteins that is obtained from the skin, cartilage and animal bones. It is used in the production of jellies, fruit and meat jellies.

• Meat

Collagen contains mainly meat types such as beef, chicken, goat meat and pork. Particularly noteworthy are pork legs, from which pork jelly is prepared “cold legs” rich in collagen. Large amounts of collagen also contain meat decoctions, mainly from bones.

• Fish

Fish collagen is particularly valuable due to its similar chemical structure to human collagen. It therefore shows high absorbability and biological activity.

In addition to products rich in collagen, it is also important to eat with the diet products containing a high amount of vitamin C, which supports the processes of collagen synthesis in the body. Rich in vitamin C are products such as:

– citruses: oranges, lemons, grapefruit,
– kiwi, rose hips, choke berry, blackcurrants, strawberries,
– peppers, parsley, broccoli, kohlrabi, brussels sprouts, cabbage

Increasing collagen deficiency can lead to many abnormalities of the body’s activity. In addition to the bad appearance of the skin, hair and nail brittleness, collagen deficiency can lead to health problems such as joint and spine pains. The correct amount of collagen in the body accelerates the healing of fractures, improves eyesight, strengthens teeth and helps maintain healthy bones and joints. Supplements market offers a wide range of products containing collagen, often with the addition of vitamin C. Among people with joint problems, the effects of taking collagen supplements can be noticed after a week of use.

Collagen is a substance that has several functions in the body. He is in charge of the proper functioning and endurance of bones, joints, tendons and ligaments and improves the appearance of the skin, hair and nails. It supports the body’s immune processes. It is synthesized in the body or can be supplied with food. With age, collagen synthesis processes are disappearing, which is why it is advisable to use a diet rich in products containing collagen or supplementation, mainly among people who have problems with the proper functioning of the joints.
