5 Tips to Not Getting Coronavirus

SARS‑CoV‑2 coronavirus is still poorly understood — simply because humanity came across it only a few months ago. There are many ambiguities and hypotheses around him.

According to the WHO and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, SARS‑CoV‑2 is distributed in two ways:

Airborne. That is, through the air, with the smallest droplets of the saliva of an infected person. So they get infected most often.
Contact household. When you first touch the surface on which the virus has settled, and then — the eye, nose or mouth. This method is not considered the main one, but it also cannot be discounted.

Therefore, it is so important to protect yourself from the virus.

1. Leave home only when necessary and limit meetings with people

This is the key tip. In the vast majority of cases, coronavirus is transmitted directly from person to person. Therefore, the less you meet people, the lower your risks of getting sick.

If contacts cannot be avoided, communicate at a distance of at least 1 meter from each other. This distance is recommended by WHO.

2. Wear a mask in crowded places

WHO still recommends wearing a mask only to those who cough or sneeze, or who care about a person suspected of having COVID-19. But there is good reason to believe that such advice is outdated.

For example, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recalls that people often suffer from coronavirus infection asymptomatically. So, they can be contagious, even if they do not cough and do not have the slightest sign of SARS.

Therefore, the CDC is advised to wear masks in any public places where it is difficult to maintain distance. For example, in supermarkets, pharmacies, public transport.

3. Wash your hands often

SARS‑CoV‑2 settles on surfaces and can persistence of coronaviruses on inanimate surfaces and their inactivation with biocidal agents for 3-4 days. So, it can be in your hands.

Wash hands with soap and water. Soap breaks down fat and flushes damaged viruses along with dirt. To make the procedure as effective as possible, soap your hands for at least 20 seconds.

Use hand gel antiseptic. For the sanitizer to cope with the lipid layer, it must contain at least 60% alcohol. Cover your hands and fingers with an antiseptic and rub your palms against each other until they are dry.

4. Do not touch your face with your hands

This is a bad habit that many do not notice. Meanwhile, studies show that people unconsciously touch their faces 23 times per hour on average.

Such behavior increases the risk of introducing coronavirus (as, incidentally, other viruses and bacteria) onto the mucous membranes. Therefore, try to control yourself and do everything to get rid of a bad habit. This will also serve you well after finishing this coronavirus story.

5. Buy online and order home delivery

Thus, it is possible to order not only products and household chemicals from supermarkets but also prepared dishes, medicines, clothes and much more. Ask the courier to leave your order outside the door, and pick up the box when he leaves.

Remember to wash or sanitize your hands after unpacking and before eating.
